Campbell claims Jindal 'clearly afraid to debate'
Campbell continues his challenge to debate Jindal

BASTROP - Democrat Foster Campbell continued to challenge Republican front-runner Bobby Jindal to a series of debates with the rest of the field while Campbell was campaigning here today. Campbell and other candidates are participating in a forum at the Louisiana Municipal Association convention being held in Monroe on Saturday, but Jindal will speak separately during the convention without joining the forum.

"He's cutting and running just like he claims the Democrats are trying to do in Washington," said Campbell, a member of the Louisiana Public Service Commission. "It doesn't smell right. He's clearly afraid to debate."

John Trigg, a member of the LMA staff, said the LMA gave Jindal a choice to address the convention either separately as a congressman or as a candidate in the forum. "He chose to speak as a congressman," Trigg said. Jindal's campaign manager dismissed Campbell's criticism. "Bobby is looking forward to visiting with the folks at LMA this weekend, and he looks forward to participating in debates after the September qualifying period, when voters are paying attention," Timmy Teepell said.
