Press Release: Jindal Skips Forum AND Important Votes - August 6, 2007 - Bobby Jindal ducked a gubernatorial campaign forum in Monroe Saturday, claiming pressing congressional business, but then missed all but one vote in the House of Representatives that day, voting records show.

“He not only cut and ran from his opponents and local officials from all over Louisiana, but he also ducked important votes on two groundbreaking energy bills in Congress,” Foster Campbell said.

After casting a single vote to adjourn, Jindal missed the remaining 22 votes, including important votes on energy bills that promote conservation and renewable energy resources and that end $16 billion in tax breaks for the oil and gas industry. (read more)

Campbell Recognized for Public Service Commission Initiative on Domestic Violence - His effort to make it easier for victims of domestic violence in Louisiana to escape their abusers has earned Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell awards from two groups recently. The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana and the office of Bossier-Webster District Attorney Schuyler Marvin have both recognized Campbell’s work on domestic violence.

Both groups were responding to a PSC initiative by Campbell earlier this year. Campbell authored a commission rule requiring utilities to waive deposits for victims of family violence when they establish a new residence. The commission unanimously adopted the rule at its February meeting. (read more)
